The Lab Work Behind EC3: What Independent Testing Found
Share
When customers ask us why we carry EC3, we usually talk about what we've seen on jobs. But there's also lab work behind the formula, and it's worth a straight look.
In May 2012, RealTime Laboratories, a CAP-accredited lab in Carrollton, Texas, evaluated EC3 products at the request of MicroBalance Health Products. They tested a spray solution of EC3 Mold Solution Concentrate and the EC3 Air Purification Candle against several mycotoxins commonly found in household dust: aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, and G2), Ochratoxin A, and macrocyclic trichothecenes.
The setup matters, so let's be plain about it. The tests ran in closed, well-controlled polystyrene containers, not in living rooms. The candle was tested over 3 hours. The mold solution was tested over 18 to 24 hours, at dilutions ranging from 1:10 to 1:100.
Here's what the lab reported. With the candle, mycotoxins at concentrations of 250 parts per billion or below were undetectable after 3 hours. At 500 to 1000 ppb, levels dropped by 90 percent in the same 3 hours. With the mold solution, mycotoxins at 1000 ppb were undetectable when the solution was diluted no more than 1:40.
The lab's own disclaimer is printed right on the letter: RealTime Laboratories does not endorse environmental products which it tests. That's standard practice, and it's worth respecting.
So what do we take from this? Not a guarantee. A lab container isn't your basement, and no spray replaces fixing the moisture problem that let mold grow in the first place. What it tells us is that the botanical formula showed measurable activity against real mycotoxins under controlled conditions. That's more than marketing language. It's one of the reasons we're comfortable recommending EC3 to our remediation customers and carrying it on our shelves.
We're the team behind Stat Sanitizing, a NYS-licensed mold assessment and remediation company working across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. We don't carry anything we wouldn't trust on a real job, on a real smell, for a real customer.
